Leave a commentHey there. Want to know me a little?
These are some things that make me smile:
- my hubs, aka Michael Doug, babe, sweetheart, lifelong companion, best friend
- my brown leather boots
- leggings with good elasticity
- cilantro
- scarves
- wacky cake with chocolate icing (I’ll post the recipe at some point)
- freshly shaved legs
- goat cheese
- hymns
- Salt Spring Island
- burlap
- bulleted lists
These are some things I do:
- teach voice lessons
- cook our meals almost solely from scratch
- sing as a professional chorister
- sew
- work as a barista
I try to walk/take transit to my destinations rather than always driving, although I am not as militant about this as I was a year ago. I did ‘no-poo’ haircare for quite some time, but I am now ‘half-poo’. I wish I had the discipline to exercise more than I do. I love dark roast coffee. Singing either makes me feel on top of the world or low as dirt, depending on the day. I prefer serious conversation to small talk. I think marriage is one of the best aspects of my life. I love the city, but sometimes I want to run away and live in the boonies, away from pollution and marketing and crime.
I am coming to know more of God. Some of that results from early morning talks with Him as I walk to work. Some of it happens through the sermon I hear on a morning I really wanted to skip church. Sometimes I think I see Him through times of financial uncertainty. Most recently, I have chosen to trust Him as I walk through my first pregnancy, knowing that I will have to say ‘goodbye’ to my baby boy almost before saying ‘hello.’
I like to ‘think things out loud’ – hence, this blog. I hope some of my thoughts strike a chord with someone out there. Do feel free to comment.
